Smoke rose from the chimney's, and laughter filled the halls of the mountain. Mead filled cups and meat filled plates where swiped form the counter and placed in front of a group of stocky, short men. Their laughter filled the tavern, as they recounted their latest adventure.
"Our home had been burned by dragon fire! For seven Days we fought the beast! We only fought with our dwarven Ire! We fought and made them flee! And to their caves we went! with our finest armor and our greatest warriors! To pay the score we sailed to Dragonshore!" One of the men stood up on the table and caught everyone's attention, If they hadn't been looking before.
"We had arrived at the gates of the hoard of fell beasts in midday, the snores coming from the caves made our ships shake!" A few children walked up to the dwarfs, with shining eyes.
"When we reached the shore of the island at first we saw nothing, but what scarred rock can tell. Until, we heard a thundering roar from above, we looked above. And lo and behold! There was the same dragon that terrorized our city for so long! It had a massive scar from when our Animire had struck down his sword, and forced the beast to flee!" The rather rambunctious dwarf points down to a sitting dwarf, with a scar running down the side of his face. The children stare at the man in awe. The man smiles.
"And that's not all of the story, you should've seen the fight between him and the fell beast! In one mighty strike he cleaved the beasts wing off! It wailed in pain, and crawled up the mountain. But mountains are no problem for dwarfs! And so, we climbed and the closer we came to the entrance, we heard a woman talking. Confused we climbed faster, and once we arrived a the top of the mountain. We saw a woman talking to the fell beasts and nursing the now wingless dragon. We ran for her, the beast heard us and grabbed the woman and tried to fly away, with his one wing. He was stopped short by the sword of our Animire. The beast fell clutching onto the woman. We peeled the wing it was using to protect her, what we saw was a beautiful young woman, her beauty could be likened to the elves, pure. She looked at us with such fire, I could've sworn I saw Dragon fire in her eyes. The woman started to speak In a tongue I could not understand. But none the less we have completed our goal, and killed the winged beast that terrorized our town for seven days, we took our spoils of war, and made our way home to the mountain, and to see about said woman.
